Air India officially returned  back to its founder Tata Group .

The government officially handed over Air India to the Tata group. The Tata Group now takes full control of the iconic 'Maharaja'. 


After a meeting with PM Modi, Tata Sons in a statement said, "The Tata Group today announced the completion of the transaction for purchase of Air India from the Government of India. The Tata Group takes over management and control of the airline, starting today."

Air India in an official statement releases it's new welcome announcements.


"Dear guests, welcome aboard this historic flight, which marks a special event. Today, Air India officially becomes a part of Tata Group again, after seven decades. Welcome to the future of Air India.


N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd. said, "We are excited to have Air India back in the Tata Group and are committed to making this a world-class airline. I warmly welcome all the employees of Air India, to our Group, and look forward to working together."

Ratan N. Tata joined Mr. N Chandrasekaran in expressing his thankful recognition to the Government of India & various departments.
