Over 20 lakh (2 Million) people hit by floods. The overall flood situation in the State of Assam remained grim with the number of affected people going up to more than 2 million people.

The death toll in the current wave of floods also increased to 13. 

Due to Heavy rain , closure of sluice gates and over- tapping of embankment in many areas in and around silchar town ,link road, national high point, Ambicapatti, church road, chandicharan road, Bilpar, public school road, subhas Nagar, sonai road and N.S Avenue were savaged by flood water.


The Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) carried out rescue operations in flood-hit areas of the district in a massive way.

Speaking to media persons at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district, the Chief Minister said, "For the first time in the history of Assam, a special plane of Indian Air Force will carry 1 lakh litres of diesel and petrol to Silchar on June 21. 


Nothing like this ever before happened in Assam history. The Northeast Frontier Railway has also agreed to run a special relief train."

Meanwhile, Assam State Disaster Management Authority on Monday informed that 11 people died in floods and landslides in the last 24 hours.
