Multiple people shot in New York City subway, according to reports.

At least 13 people have been injured including five who were shot inside a subway station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, according to police.

Multiple people were shot at a subway station on Tuesday in Brooklyn, New York, according to local news outlets. The shooting happened around 8:30 am ET in Sunset Park, near Fourth Avenue and 36th Street.

The suspect was apparently still on the loose.  He was described as 180 pounds wearing a gas mask an orange vest and carrying a construction bag. The suspect reportedly threw something into the air.

A massive emergency response is underway with ambulances removing several people from the station. Eight victims were taken to NYU Medical Center and three were taken to NY Presbyterian Hospital.

Cops believe the attacker acted alone. A motive is under investigation, though right now the all-out manhunt for the gunman is investigators' top priority.

Police were combing through subway tunnels, based on some witness reports he may have jumped to the tracks, but the gunman remained on the loose hours later.

Experts say at this early stage that the shooting appears to have been an orchestrated attack, though they caution that much could change rapidly as details develop.
